Hey hey!

well, it's about time for an update.

I am still at the Children's home in Dehradun.  I leave on Friday to take a train back to Delhi.  I will be in Delhi for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and then I will fly back to America Monday night.

I am sad to leave.  But I am excited for the next few days of ministry!

Please for the kids here.  So much of my time is spent giving them medicines.  They were lived in the slums, owning barely one pair of clothes, drinking very polluted water, eating... sometimes, and undernourished from birth.  Though they are here, fed, clothed and nurtured (physically and spiritually) now their immune systems are still very weak and many of them suffer from boils or scabies or something of the sort.  Fevers and colds are also common.

But I have faith in the Great Physician to bring healing and the hope of a brighter future to all of them!

God bless,

So... I'm in India still!  Just to recap my GE team left on July 6th and that meant that I took a train 5 1/2 hours away to Dehradun, a gorgeous city in the lower Himalayas where I am now living and serving at a Children's home.

I can't explain what a beautiful feeling it is to play guitar and worship on the roof looking at the sunset and the mountains (that is as long as it is not raining, since it is still monsoon season)!  Or to worship Him through scrubbing walls, or giving Scabies medication to 20 some kids, or teaching english, or teaching them about the One True God during evening worship... the list goes on.

(but please pray for more opportunities and that would follow where He leads me)

I have eight more days here and then 4 more days in Delhi (during which I will have the privelege to serve with some incredible Gospel For Asia sisters and brothers who I served with during my first month here) and then back to America.  Sorry I haven't updated more!!!

Peace and Love,

amber

Wow, it has been almost a month! I had hoped to have internet access more frequently than this!  Well... as usual, I don't have much time but I wanted to update you on the things that happened last month...

My Global Expeditions team departed back to America on July 6th and I am currently serving and living at a childrens home in the lower himalayas... (it's beautiful in case you're wondering!)  Monsoon season has kicked in and the temp is cool!  The children are beautiful and easy to love, but I want to show them Christ-in-me, not just me, which is difficult but not impossible.

Wow... there is so much I want to tell you, I don't know where to begin.  I am excited to come back to the States and share what the Lord has been doing! I honestly think it is going to be weird to speak English again! --Since my GE team left I have been speaking to Indians in Hinglish (that's my broken hindi + their broken english!).  Even my journal has very simple words in in now.  That's the hardest part of still being here I think... I just want to be able to communicate.  I want to pray with friends... I want to share my thoughts and hear someone else's opinions... you know... conversation.

My team the first month was amazing!  Very united.  Very focused.  Many people joined the body of Christ and there were several healings as well (including a broken arm and leg!).  At one ministry site a whole classroom of students and a teacher came to Christ and then they dimissed school so that they could tell their parents about God!  At a leper community I led four teenage girls to the Lord who actually interrupted me as I was repeating the gospel to them for the fouth time over (to make sure they understood!) to ask me if they could start following Jesus right now!  They gave up their idols to serve him as the one true GOD!  I saw the Lord move in incredible ways... I also saw people worshiping trees... and I saw women who worshipped their husbands... I saw temples that demanded blood sacrifice... I spoke to missionaries who had been beaten to nearly dead to their faith--that's missionarieS, plural... I spoke to MANY people who had never heard the gospel before and some who had never heard the name of Jesus...

As for me I am doing well. The whole trip our contacts have been bending over backwards to make us feel comfortable.  I feel bad sometimes and spoiled!  My contacts here at the children's home got beef for me the other day (from a muslim, not Hindu butcher) since cows are holy in the Hindu religion this is a big deal.  In one place we stayed 60 girls in a the Bible college gladly shared ONE bathroom so that our team of 23 could have FOUR ... yeah.

Well anyway... please pray for me!  I am praying for wisdom and vision for why the Lord has called me here this extra month.  I am praying for a servants heart and to find comfort in the Lord.

God Bless!

I just wanted to let you all know that I have arrived safely in India!  I don't have time to type a large update right now, as I am waiting to board a flight from Bombay to Delhi.  I will be thinking of you all! Please keep me in your prayers!

I am currently in Garden Valley Texas, at Teen Mania's campus, where I will train for my mission trip.  I am praying for the Lord to provide $1500 in the next couple of days for the trip to India!  Please join with me and pray, or if you want to donate, call me and I'll tell you how!
